"Syria would continue to respect and implement Annan's six-point proposal," China's foreign ministry quoted Moallem as telling his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi in Beijing.
According to the Chinese ministry Moallem also said "Damascus remained committed to implementing a ceasefire, withdrawing troops and cooperating with UN observers."

For his part, Jiechi stressed that "the Moallem's visit is of great importance."
Xinhua, the Chinese News Agency quoted the minister as saying, at the beginning of his meeting with Moallem, that "today we can exchange opinions on the latest developments of the situation in Syria in a board and intensive way."
The Chinese official also expressed hope to exchange views with his Syrian counterpart on a number of main regional and international issues.

"I believe that your visit will have positive results," Jiechi said.

Earlier, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Liu Weimin said, in a regular press briefing, that invitation of Moallem to visit China is a part of the country's efforts to tackle the crisis in Syria.

He expressed China's readiness to play a pivotal and structural role in finding solution to this crisis in a just, peaceful and appropriate way.
He further revealed that "the leaders of the Syrian opposition would visit China in the near future."
