Former Lebanese President General Emile Lahoud assured that there are no guarantees to the security of Lebanon other than the formula of the people-army-resistance. He also stressed the importance of supporting the Syrian people to their president Bashar al-Assad in his reforms in Syria.

Lahoud, following his meeting with the Venezuelan Foreign Minister and Venezuela's ambassador to Lebanon, said that foreign pressure should remain ineffective on the fate of states. He noted that Venezuela is the best example to that, as its President Hugo Chavez has supported the just causes around the world and is not submissive to US pressure or sanctions.

Lahoud also compared between the situations in Lebanon and Syria, explaining that both states have been subject to different types of pressure and challenges. Yet, he elaborated that both were resistant and therefore achieved victory of different forms.
