The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei called on all Iranians to go to Somalis' aid.

A statement issued by the office of the Supreme Leader on Monday reads the following:

"These days, the horn of Africa and particularly the catastrophe-ridden country of Somalia are witnessing one of the most painful human crises in which the lives of millions of Somali women and children are in danger due to drought, famine and the silence of international organizations."

Ayatollah Khamenei also urged Iranians to "rush to the aid of the Muslim nation of Somalia in the month of mercy and blessing (Ramadan) and send monetary and non-monetary donations via relevant organizations to the African nation."

"Thus, all Iranians are invited to aid Somali people by giving either money or basic commodities," the statement stressed.

Iran sent its third cargo of humanitarian aid, weighing 40 tons, to Somalia Sunday night.

In addition, another cargo of humanitarian assistance weighing 100 tons will be shipped to the famine-hit African country soon.
