Again, shepherds in south Lebanon fall victim of "Israel's" aggression at the borders, and upon the sight of the UNIFIL monitoring the area.

On Tuesday, an "Israeli" army unit crossed the Blue Line and abducted two Lebanese citizens, Lyon Ya'acoub Alam and Mohammad Zahra. Alam was checking on his sheep, as Zahra has been shepherding the flock in Atmoun valley at the outskirts of Shebaa, some thirty meters away from the Blue Line demarcated by blue barrels. The "Israeli" unit took the two men into the occupied territories.

Instantly, Rmeish municipality informed the concerned parties, and some of its employees gathered the sheep and took the flock back to Rmeish. Then, a Lebanese army patrol accompanied by a United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL) patrol headed to the area, inspecting the spot where the "Israeli" violation took place. This took place in complete absence of the Zionist enemy, except for a few cameras behind the barbed wires, monitoring the border and a few soldiers hiding in their posts.

In an interview with Al Intiqad, Charles Alam, brother of the abducted Lyon Alam said "My brother was checking up on his sheep flock of which Mohammad Zahra was looking after. Zahra has been working as a shepherd for my brother since quite some time. As soon as my brother arrived in his pick-up and parked it as usual in this area, he and Zahra were abducted, and it seems they had ambushed there."

"We demand the immediate release of the abducted particularly that my brother Lyon suffers of chronic diabetes (cannot tolerate torture) and we fear they might torture him which would lead to a disaster."
On his part, head of Rmeish municipality Michel Shoufani said that vast areas of agricultural land is left out and neglected because of the "Israeli" constant threat. He added that all calls they conducted with the UNIFIL were fruitless and that citizen's fear to cultivate their land and face a situation similar to what happened to Alam and Zahra, adding "Today we demand a military point in the Atmoun area so that we can benefit from our lands."

The UNIFIL on Tuesday confirmed that two Lebanese shepherd were kidnapped by "Israeli" army.

UNIFIL spokesman, Niraj Singh told Lebanon's run-state news agency that the "Israeli" army arrested at 10:15 on Tuesday two Lebanese shepherd at the surroundings of Rmeish village in south Lebanon bordering the Zionist entity.

On Wednesday morning, "Israeli" forces released the two Lebanese shepherds ( Lyon Alam and Mohammad Zahra).

The shepherds were handed over to the UNIFIL forces who in turn gave them to the Lebanese army at Naqoura crossing point.

Good article. . .

Good article, along with great pictures. It never amazes me how irresponsible Israel's action are against the Lebanese. Is this a small sign that Israel is trying to flex its muscles, possibly to show intimidation to the local Lebanese population? Daily violations of Lebanese airspace and cross-border abductions are unacceptable!!
