TEHRAN--Iran`s Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei reiterated Sunday that his country has no plans to build nuclear weapons.
"While the Iranian nation has no atomic bomb and has no plans to create this deadly weapon, it is still a respected nation" for its spiritual and revolutionary values, the leader of Islamic Revolution in Iran told in a meeting with commanders of Iran`s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).
"Iran which has always vigorously defended its right to develop its nuclear program also denies allegations by the United States and other countries that it is looking to develop weapons as well," the Leader added.
"The Islamic Revolution served the national identity and dignity of the Iranian nation thanks to leadership of the late Imam Khomeini," Ayatollah Khamenei said. "The IRGC is a symbol of national dignity, safeguarding the Islamic Revolution."
Commander-in-Chief of Iran`s Armed Forces, Ayatollah Khamenei said that status of the IRGC would be strengthened in light of the principles of the Islamic Revolution and the religious teachings.
"The IRGC is a God-given blessing for the nation and country, citing the numerous sacrifices it has made in the past 28 years especially during the eight-year imposed war (1980-1988). He said that the IRGC, as a military force, is well-prepared for defending the country," he added.
The Leader observed great services of the IRGC saying that the IRGC has a record of extraordinary operations and innovation for producing military equipment.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces then offered guidelines to the IRGC commanders encouraging them to make progress and not to feel satisfied with the status quo.
