Former US ambassador to Lebanon and US Assistant Secretary of State Jeffrey Feltman seems to have started a journey of paying the price for the confessions he made earlier this month during his testimony before the US Congress in which he acknowledged that his administration has spent USD 500 million to bribe people into criticizing Hizbullah and tarnish its image.

Lebanese lawyer May Khansa has submitted a lawsuit against the US official, accusing him of creating a terrorist gathering aimed at changing the social body of the state and financing the terrorism as well as creating sedition.

In an interview with moqawama.org, Khansa assured that Feltman's statement and action constitute a crime as stipulated in the Lebanese criminal law.

"Lebanon is a state of sovereignty and independence, and therefore we do not accept any foreign violations and interference that aims at changing a certain political or social situation in the country," Khansa said. She expressed her surprise as so far, no Lebanese official has summoned the US ambassador to Lebanon Michel Sison to demand an explanation to Feltman's statement "I'm a Lebanese citizen hurt by Feltman's statements and I expected the government to move and ask the US embassy for clarification. But nothing happened," she said.

Khansa further elaborated saying that the Feltman has admitted committing the crime and has presented a self condemnation to his actions as "The confessions are the masters of proofs", hoping that the Lebanese judiciary would take actions.

As for the Lebanese officials caught up in the crime, the lawyer pointed out she is gathering evidence and documents at present that prove the involvement of some Lebanese officials of certain political affiliations in order to presented before Lebanese judiciary. She also stressed that the evidence she is gathering is certain, stating that she will reveal the identity of those as soon as the evidence is complete.

She said that she would follow up her case until the end, urging the Lebanese government to take immediate action against Feltman, whose statements constitute a danger for the whole Lebanese entity.

As for the continuous "Israeli" violations against Lebanon and its sovereignty of which the latest is the abduction of Lebanese citizen and shepherd Imad Atwi, Khansa again expressing surprise that the Lebanese government has done nothing about such violations whether "Israeli" or American.

On another note, Khansa said that the violations taking place on the Lebanese security arena of which the latest is the "Alfa" espionage scandal is a danger to Lebanon's security and sovereignty and should be intensively followed up.
