The Islamic Republic of Iran blamed the Egyptian government for the delay of two Iranian ships sailing to Gaza, assuring that it still considers sending aid ships to the enclave.

Iran released this announcement on Sunday stating that Egypt prevented the Iranian ships from passing through Suez Canal.

Iranian MPs assured their determination to head to the besieged strip on board of "Naji Al Ali" ship taking off from Lebanon.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammad Rida Shibani denied the claim that "his country retreated from its decision to send aid ships to Gaza," emphasizing that, "the plan to send non-governmental aid ships is still considered."

He added, "Iran put plans to send a humanitarian and medical aid plane to Gaza through the Egyptian borders," clarifying that, "Tehran posed this idea to Egyptian officials and is awaiting their response."
