Each and every story has to have a beginning; and the story of the Resistance that began years and years ago is inherited from one generation to another. It is a story, and a history that will be engraved forever in the minds and hearts of the people.

The story of the resistance will remain alive, in a step to endorse this heritage and history, the story should be told as it is, in its land, and among its people, and by its resistance fighters.

Mleeta is the story of the land to the skies... it is a project prepared and launched by the Hizbullah Media Activities Unit. Sheikh Ali Daher, Chief of the Unit explains it all to Intiqad.net:

The idea of Jihadist tourism first came up in the year 2000, right after the liberation. The huge victory, considered as one of the most important victories on the level of the Arab world as well as countries which fought the cancerous tumor (Israel); was brought to life in a site that embodies the history and heroism of its resistance fighters.

We started then organizing trips for delegations and groups to the liberated areas and sites, where the idea of such tourism started growing and falling into place.

The new term "resistance tourism" emerged and became the title of a permanent site that was established. We first launched this idea through exhibitions and trips that were organized in different regions of Lebanon. Our job was to exemplify this memory and history in an artistic manner.

As for the reason behind choosing Mleeta, it is the fortress of the resistance. And as it was undefeatable before the "Israeli" enemy; the enemy failed in entering this fortress owing to the braveness, faith, strength and devotion of its mujahideen (fighters).
Mleeta was chosen as it was the site visited several times by the Islamic Resistance Master of Martyrs His Eminence Sayyed Abbas Moussawi, it also embraced the wounded and the mujahideen.

Mleeta was chosen as its land was quenched by the blood of the martyrs...and because it was the launching place of many jihadist operations.
The first step in establishing this site was in the year 2004, when we visited Mleeta and bought real estate owned by resistance fighters since 1985.

In 2006, the preparatory, artistic, and architectural features of the project were set off. But due to the 2006 July "Israeli" aggression on Lebanon, the work was brought to a standstill until the year 2008.

Concerning the location of the site, it is situated in a remote area 1200 meters above sea level, it is a site of rough nature, and still holds cluster bombs after tons of bombs and missiles were shelled during the 2006 "Israeli" aggression.

Mleeta, is a site with landmark, scenic, resistance story and special panels...
For instance, the Spoils of War Exhibition has military equipment of the "Israeli" army and its Agents, won over by the resistance in the battlefield during direct combat and confrontations with the enemy.

The Abyss, a structural scenic production, symbolizing the Zionist entity's defeat, arranged using vehicles, armored vehicles, and weapons of the armies of the "Israeli" enemy and its agents, which the resistance won over beginning from 1982 up to the July 2006 war.

The Path is a rugged bush area in which thousands of mujahideen located themselves during the years of occupation, and from which they launched hundreds of jihadist operations against enemy posts in opposing positions and inside the occupied security territory.

The Cave, an underground reinforced rocky bunker the resistance fighters constructed when they used Mleeta as a stronghold.

Initially, this cave was merely a 1 m2 hole resistance fighters used as a refuge from the "Israeli" enemy's bombardment and to protect them from the elements. It was later transformed into a 200m long tunnel. Over the course of 3 years, an excess of 1000 men dug and prepared it in rotation, excavating over 350 m2 of rocks and soil, equal to roughly 1000 tons, which were dispersed under trees to cover an area exceeding 4000 m2 in a camouflaged manner preventing the enemy from observing it from the air. After its completing, Mleeta cave was transformed into a comprehensive military base dubbed by resistance fighters as "the Point".

It contained divisions and rooms and was provided with a direct supply of drinking and service water, and equipped with electricity and safety devices and ventilation, allowing some 7000 resistance fighters to reside and be stationed in it, using it as a main base for confronting the enemy in the area.

The Outlook, a newer space overlooks the villages and cities of Iqliim al Tuffah [Apple District], Zahraani, Nabatiyeh, and Saida- all areas liberated by the resistance from the "Israeli" enemy in 1985.

The Line of Fire, the resistance developed its military structure; hence, it invented a unique military concept blending classical warfare with guerilla warfare, and attained distinctive armament constituting modern and ancient military techniques and specializations which it implemented in the highest proficiency tactically and in maneuvering.

The Liberation Province, since 1982, the resistance adopted a defensive strategy: the resistance, hand in hand with the national army and the people, liberates the land and safeguards the country.

In 1985, the resistance liberated part of the occupied Lebanese territories to liberate the greater portion in the year 2000. In 2006, the resistance thwarted the "Israeli" aggression on Lebanon, creating a historic and strategic victory.
The Sayyed Abbas Barricade, a military barricade used by Sayyed Abbas Moussawi, the former Secretary General of Hizbullah, where he prayed and read supplications, and met and encouraged resistance fighters.

More Panels of different connotation await visitors, who will realize that words are inadequate of describing the fascinating scene of resistance and victory...

In the year 2000, and after the painful consecutive blows dealt to the enemy by the resistance, the enemy's leadership was forced to prepare a special scenario to withdraw in June, one which achieves some political gains for the Zionist entity, and preserves a special status for the agent army. Yet, what occurred between the 21st and 24th of May was not calculated by the enemy. The residents of the occupied territory, along with the resistance fighters, broke through enemy barricades, checkpoints, and posts. The result: a quick retreat by the agents, and an even speedier retreat by the occupation soldiers. For the first time in the history of the Arab-"Israeli" conflict, Arab land is liberated and hostages are freed by the force of a popular armed resistance, unconditionally and unreservedly, and not a favor from anyone.

Mleeta, a land that witnessed the liberation 10 years ago, holds within its folds a museum, which is only one of the Resistance surprises that have not ended since the July Divine Victory...
