President Michel Aoun said Tuesday that Lebanon's future was only set to improve from its current circumstances.
"The future of Lebanon will be brighter thanks to the care of the children [of the nation,] and their loyalty to the homeland," Aoun told a group of visitors to Baabda Palace, according to a statement from the presidency.
Aoun's comments came during a meeting with the Lebanese National Energy organization.
The LNE is a nonprofit organization recognized by the Lebanese authorities. It aims to boost the Lebanese economy by connecting business professionals in order to enhance growth and prosperity, create job opportunities "and stop brain drain," according to its website.
Separately, the Cabinet session, the agenda of which does not include the oil and gas file, will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Baabda Palace, headed by President Michel Aoun.
Thursday's meeting will be the second week in a row, as the government kicks back into action following Prime Minister Saad Hariri's withdrawal of his shock resignation.
Finance Minister Ali Hasan Khalil said that public sector employees were set to receive pay according to the new salary scale.
"The employees of the public sector will be paid this month based on the new salary scale and the prime minister will issue a circular [on this] today," Finance Minister Ali Hasan Khalil said, as quoted by local news station LBCI.
The Cabinet customarily meets at Baabda only for every other session, but this will be the second meeting in two weeks to take place in the presidential palace.
