Jumblatt: Suleiman’s Rejection to EU Listing of Hizbullah on Terror List Brave Stance

Head of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt welcomed the call to dialogued that Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah had launched two days ago during a speech he delivered in the Iftar held by the ‘Islamic Resistance Support Association'.
This same call was reassured by Lebanese president Michel Suleiman as he expressed "these calls converge with the repeated and firm calls to return to the national dialogue committee, especially that the only alternatives to such dialogue is tension, division, also political and security exposure."
During his weekly editorial Al-Anbaa, Jumblatt praised Suleiman's rejection to listing Hizbullah on the EU terror list, describing it as a brave and crucial stance which serves the internal stability and calm of Lebanon.
Jumblatt called on all Lebanese political sides to return to dialogue noting "there should be a serious attempt to discuss issues on top of which is a defense strategy," reiterating the role of the state in peace and at times of war, on the condition that it benefits from the experience of the Resistance in confronting the "Israeli" enemy.
"Holding dialogue might open the door as well to all political parties to discuss the Syrian crisis, and restore Lebanon's self-distancing which proved it can provide some stability, albeit incomplete," expressed Jumblatt.
This policy, according to the PSP leader, would allow stability in Lebanon, especially as the US and the West expect the crisis in Syria to last for no less than 10 years. Any other policy would only transfer the Syrian tension inside Lebanon, which has become a fertile land for dispute and division, he concluded.
