Syria: More than 126 Martyred As Suicide Bombing Hits Kefraya, Foah Evacuees

A vehicle filled with explosives hit the convoy near Aleppo.

The so-called UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said at least 109 evacuees from besieged Kefraya and Foah towns were martyred, along with aid workers.

Many more were injured in the attack, the group said.

The explosion shattered buses and set cars on fire, leaving a trail of bodies, as the convoy waited in militant territory near Aleppo.

Separately, several people, mostly children, are reported to have been injured by shelling in the capital, Damascus.

The evacuees attacked on Saturday were being moved from Foah and Kefraya, which have been encircled by terrorists since March 2015.

A statement from the spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General said: "The evacuations were being conducted in accordance with the agreement reached pursuant to the Four Towns agreement. ...

"We call on the parties to ensure the safety and security of those waiting to be evacuated. Those responsible for today's attack must be brought to justice."
